What is LEED?

LEED is the accepted standard for certifying that a building's construction and design meet the benchmarks for responsible building techniques, the use of appropriate materials in the building's construction, and sustainable "green" practices in a building's operation.
The LEED certification process encourages the building's owners, designers, and builders to measure performance in five different areas: sustainable development of the site, energy efficiency, conservation of water, selection of appropriate materials, and indoor environmental quality.
