Lighting

It makes no sense to keep the lights on in a room that is not being used. The digital building control systems in the new Kilton Library will keep track of how the building is being used and which spaces are currently occupied, so that lighting can be adjusted with a view towards maximum energy savings without affecting the use of the building. The building systems will even account for the sunlight outside the building in making adjustments to the lighting inside the building, adjusting the lighting in both occupied and unoccupied spaces.
Natural lighting will be part of the design of the building, both for energy savings and for the comfort of the building's users.
