Digital Controls

LEED digital controls image: The efficiency of a building cannot be determined without accurate measurements that can be logged and compared over time. The energy systems in the Kilton Library will be digitally-monitored so that the total energy consumed, both electrical and heating/cooling energy, can be measured on an instantaneous as well as monthly and annual basis. This will provide an overall reading of the tightness and efficiency of the energy footprint of the building, and will allow the the comparison of "how the building is doing" over time.

In the new Kilton Library, a direct digital control (DDC) system will monitor all of the energy use in the building, comparing the ongoing use of energy to the temperatures inside the building and outside the building, the degree to which the building is occupied, the time of day, and even the light levels inside and outside the building.
